Report: Crystal Palace are favourites to hand Tottenham a nice cash boost this summer

Although there is interest from Al-Nassr and even Tottenham Hotspur themselves, Crystal Palace are currently favourites in the race for Marcus Edwards this summer (A Bola).

Marcus Edwards could return to England

Edwards left Tottenham back in 2019 as a highly-rated academy graduate who didn’t quite make the grade under Mauricio Pochettino.

Since then, he has forged a successful career in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon and is now catching the eye of a number of Premier League teams this summer.

HITC report that Crystal Palace are keen on the former Spurs man, but Fulham, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and even Tottenham themselves have looked at the winger this summer.

Palace could give Tottenham a payday

A Bola report that Edwards is attracting interest from Al-Nassr, but Crystal Palace are considered the favourites to sign him at this moment in time.

The tricky winger is apparently seen as a replacement for Michael Olise, who made a big-money move to Bayern Munich earlier this month.

A Bola previously reported that Sporting want £17m for Edwards this summer. Thanks to Tottenham’s 35% sell-on clause, that would net a cool £5.95m for the Lilywhites. Even if the fee ends up being a little lower, Spurs stand to profit from any Edwards sale this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I can’t see Tottenham signing Edwards themselves just to be a bench option, so Sporting selling him now at his peak for a good price would be great news for Spurs.

That £5m or so could go toward the wages of a big new signing for Tottenham this summer, for example.
