Spurs are interested in Villa’s Jacob Ramsey

Ramsey endured a frustrating campaign with Villa in 2023-24, having suffered injury issues, which limited him to just 21 appearances across all competitions.

It has been widely reported over recent months that Tottenham are plotting a move for the 23-year-old and have asked about the midfielder’s availability (The Athletic).

Last month, Football Insider even suggested that Unai Emery’s side would be open to cashing in on their academy graduate, given their perilous PSR situation.

However, it emerged earlier this week that Tottenham made an offer of £20m plus Giovani Lo Celso for Ramsey, which was sent back by the Midlands club (Matt Maher).

Aston Villa are not keen on selling Ramsey

Gold has now revealed that Spurs are serious about their pursuit of the Villa star, who is very much on their shortlist.

The journalist explained the interest in the England Under-21 international is being driven by Johan Lange, who vacated his role at Villa Park to join as Spurs’ technical director last year.

However, Gold adds that as things stand, there is a feeling at Tottenham that Villa are unlikely to sell the young midfielder.

One can understand why Tottenham would want to test the waters for Ramsey, given Villa’s PSR position.

However, Emery’s men would likely be reluctant to sell the budding young midfielder to a direct rival.
