Video: Spurs’ Mikey Moore scores brace for England against France on Under-17 duty
Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore starred for England’s Under-17s on Tuesday as they began their UEFA U17 EUROs with an imposing 4-0 victory over France in Group D.
Moore has turned a lot of heads with his performances at youth level at Spurs over the last couple of years, with several journalists waxing lyrical about the teenager recently (Tom Barcley – The Tottenham Way Podcast).
Although a left-winger by trade, the 16-year-old has played as a number ten, an attacking midfielder and occasionally even as a striker this season, with the teenager having scored 14 goals and provided eight assists in 12 matches in the Under-18 Premier League (Transfermarkt).
He was handed his senior Tottenham debut by Ange Postecolgou against Manchester City last week, replacing James Maddison in the dying stages of the encounter, thus becoming the youngest-ever player to represent Spurs in the Premier League.
Mikey Moore scores twice for England
Moore has taken his impressive club form into the U17 Euros, being the key orchestrator in England’s thumping win over last year’s finalists, France.
The Tottenham youngster opened the scoring after just two minutes, meeting Leo Shahar’s cross at the back post.
He then put the game to bed just in the latter stages of the first half, dribbling past several French players before finding the back of the net with a fantastic finish to put his side 3-0 up.
Baylee Dipepa and Ethan Nwaneri got England’s other two goals in what was a dominant display by the English youngsters at Larnaca.

Moore’s stock continues to rise with each passing game and there is no doubt that Tottenham have a generational talent on their hands. The club have to manage the 16-year-old’s development carefully over the next couple of years.
