Report: Aston Villa want to beat Tottenham to Postecoglou’s top target

The Telegraph have now revealed that Aston Villa are set to enter the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur over the best part of a year.

It is clear that Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of Gallagher, with Fabrizio Romano even revealing recently that the midfielder was identified as a priority target by the Australian as soon as he walked through the door at Hotspur Way last summer (GiveMeSport).

With the England international entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, Spurs will see this summer as the perfect opportunity to get their man.

In fact, several outlets over the last few weeks have indicated that the Lilywhites are in the driving seat to land the 24-year-old despite competition from Newcastle United (Football Insider).
