Report: Spurs expected to be priced out of move for 22-year-old midfielder
The Telegraph have reported that Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey is likely to prove too expensive for Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Ramsey has fallen down Unai Emery’s pecking order at Villa this season, having made a total of just 16 league appearances, coming on as a substitute for the majority of those.
That has led to speculation that the 22-year-old could exit his boyhood club this summer in search of regular game time elsewhere.
Tottenham’s interest in the youngster first came to light back in January, with The Athletic’s David Ornstein claiming at the time that the Lilywhites had expressed an interest in the player but the Midlands club did not want to let him leave mid-season.
However, it was suggested by GiveMeSport earlier this month that Villa could cash in on their academy graduate this summer in order to fund moves for Emery’s top targets while journalist Dean Jones said on Ranks FC Ultras Podcast a couple of weeks ago that the midfielder is still on Spurs’ radar.

The Telegraph have now also backed up Tottenham’s interest in Ramsey but they explain that Ange Postecoglou’s side are not the only ones eyeing the player.
The England Under-21 international is also thought to be on the wishlist of Newcastle United and Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, it is made clear that Ramsey has no desire to leave Villa Park this summer and it is asserted that the Villans’ valuation of the player is likely to be ‘too high’ for the aforementioned sides.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham are evidently keen on adding a homegrown option in the middle of the park, which is probably why they have explored a move for Ramsey.
However, the Villa star is not likely to be at the top of Postecoglou’s wishlist, with the likes of Conor Gallagher and Morgan Gibbs-White seemingly preferred by Spurs.
