How long Cristian Romero will be suspended after his red card vs Man City
Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero was sent off against Manchester City yesterday evening after picking up two yellow cards, which means he will now serve an automatic suspension – here’s how many games he will miss.
A tight affair at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium saw the hosts take all three points in a 1-0 win. Some fine work by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg led to Harry Kane applying a cool finish to give Spurs the lead after 15 minutes, and the home side held out until the final whistle.

Manchester City enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and created more chances than Tottenham (BBC Sport), but a well-organised display from Spurs was enough to seal a crucial victory in the race for the top four.
The task was made a little more difficult late on, though, when Romero received his second yellow card and left Spurs with ten men with three minutes of normal time to go.
Romero’s first yellow came in the 26th minute, after a rather aggressive challenge on Erling Haaland. There could be no complaints over that particular booking and the Argentine defender had to be on his best behaviour for the rest of the game.
In the dying embers of the match, City’s Jack Grealish ventured forward on a trademark mazy run and was brought down by a slightly clumsy challenge from Romero. It was a necessary yet costly tackle, leading to the 24-year-old getting his marching orders.
Romero will miss Tottenham’s next Premier League game, an away tie with Leicester City on February 11 (Football London).
The suspension will only cover the one domestic game, and Romero will be back for Champions League duty against AC Milan on February 14, and will also be available for the league game against West Ham on February 19.

We never want to be without Cristian Romero, but with three consecutive clean sheets, hopefully, the team are feeling more confident at the back now. A lot of fans want to see Emerson Royal deputise in the right-sided centre-back role for the next game, and I think I’d like to see that too.
