TSG Hoffenheim lose 3-1 to RB Leipzig

TSG Hoffenheim suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to RB Leipzig. Leipzig took the lead on the 17-minute mark when Christopher Nkunku converted a direct free-kick – moments after Grischa Prömel had sustained a serious injury. TSG restarted well following the interval and restored parity at 1-1 through Georginio (49). But Leipzig then took their chances in clinical fashion, with goals from Nkunku (58) and Dani Olmo (69) confirming the defeat.

TSG are controlling the match and pushing for the equaliser, but Dani Olmo's bullet strike into the corner in the 69th minute to make it 3-1 puts the game beyond reach.

Turn of the game

Georginio turned past Abdou Diallo in the style of his French compatriot Zinedine Zidane in the lead-up to the goal for 1-1, which he headed home himself. It was his first goal after a run of nine Bundesliga matches without scoring.

Outlook

TSG are already in action again on Wednesday: Hoffenheim are then up against another Champions League last 16 participant when they visit Eintracht Frankfurt.
