Man Utd next manager – Valverde and Rangnick favourites for Red Devils job as Pochettino odds slump, Eric Cantona 33/1

MAURICIO POCHETTINO is no longer favourite for the Manchester United job.

That’s according to bookmakers Betfair, who’ve significantly altered their ‘Next Manager’ market after a flurry of activity overnight.

Pochettino, 49, was hammered into 1/5 amid claims he was seeking a return to English football.

That price has since drifted to 7/2 after the Argentine declared himself happy at PSG.

He told reporters: “The rumours are there, but that kind of thing cannot distract me. I am so happy at Paris Saint-Germain.

“I love the club, I love the fans – it is a fantastic time to be at the club. My contract is to 2023 – this season and one more. I am really happy at PSG – that is a fact.”

The Manchester Evening News also reported that PSG officials rejected United’s initial enquiry and feel it would disrupt their momentum to swap bosses midway through the campaign.

With Pochettino looking a less likely option – former Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde is now the frontrunner at 11/4.

The Red Devils want to bring in an interim boss to see them through the remainder of season, similar to what Guus Hiddink did for Chelsea.

Reports claim United have contacted the experienced 57-year-old about taking charge but no decision has been reached.

Ralf Rangnick, who is considered a pioneer of German football, is available at 10/3.

The 63-year-old is one of several on United’s shortlist, despite his current role with Russian heavyweights Lokomotiv Moscow.

Michael Carrick (13/2) won his opening game against Villarreal and is expected to continue in this weekend’s showdown with Chelsea.

Former Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre is next at 15/2 with Rudi Garcia and previous favourite Brendan Rodgers offered at 12/1 and 20/1 respectively.

Eric Cantona and Steve Bruce are outsiders of the field at 33/1.
