‘Late May or early June’ – Journalist provides update on Spurs manager search

0 4

The Athletic journalist, Jack Pitt-Brooke, revealed on The View from the Lane podcast this week that he expects Tottenham to announce a new head coach in late May or early June.

Tottenham parted ways with Jose Mourinho after 17 months in charge back in April, choosing to hand Ryan Mason the reins on an interim basis until the end of the season rather than jumping into a new permanent head coach.

Football London reported this week that Spurs now have their final shortlist for the role and will reach out in the coming weeks.

Pitt-Brooke claimed that an announcement would not happen any time soon for Spurs, meaning that fans will have to be patient to see their new head coach.

The journalist added that Steve Hitchen is drafting a three to five-man shortlist for the job before proceeding with interviews.

It is said that Tottenham want to take their time and get this appointment right, rather than panicking and rushing into things.

He said: “Spurs are taking their time over the process.

“There’s not going to be an announcement any time soon. I certainly am not expecting anything before the Leicester game, which is the last game of the season.

“Steve Hitchen is drawing up a three, four, maximum of five-man shortlist and then they will move on to interviews.

“I would expect the announcement in late May or early June.

“The word coming from the club is that they want to get it right and make sure they don’t jump into it.”
