Paper Talk: Solskjaer bids on striker as midfield pair head for Man Utd exit door; Leeds close on exciting transfer double

0 7

Manchester United are set to bid on a striker as insurance for Jadon Sancho, as two midfielders prepare to leave, while Leeds are closing on a two exiting signings, according to Monday’s paper gossip.

MAN UTD TO MAKE MILIK BID

Manchester United will this week make a firm bid to sign Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik.

The Poland striker is being chased by Tottenham, but reports in Italy, via The Sun, claim it is United now leading the charge.

They claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified Milik as his No 1 target for the window should efforts to prise Jadon Sancho fail.

United are preparing a final £90m bid to prise Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this week. However, should their offer fall flat, it’s claimed Milik is very much their back-up plan.

As such, talks have been held with Napoli to set the ball rolling over a potential deal.

The 26-year-old has scored 48 goals in 122 appearances for Gil Azzurri. But he has been left out of their squad so far this season as they look to move him on.

Milik is most comfortable playing as a central striker, but can operate on the right side of attack.

Solskjaer is determined to strengthen his attacking options after ruling out defensive reinforcements before the window shuts.

Speaking after the win at Brighton, Solskjaer said: “We’ve got many defenders here and I put Eric [Bailly] on to bolster the defence.

“For me, we’ve got enough good centre-backs here at the moment.”

United, meanwhile, could boost their coffers with the sale of two midfield stars seemingly not in Solskjaer’s thinking.

As per The Sun, Lazio are in talks with United over a deal to sign Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira.

However, during negotiations, the name of Juan Mata also came up. Reports suggest the pair could both be offloaded to the Italians were an acceptable bid come along.
