MLS boss tells Stanford conference: U.S. missing World Cup hurt league

On oen hand, Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber told a packed auditorium at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business on Wednesday, the opportunity for technical and other jobs in the professional sports world “is at an epic level.”

MLS, for instance, just added Los Angeles FC for the season — the league’s 23rd — that started last weekend. Nashville will give the league 24 teams in 2020, and Miami will make it 25 at a time to be determined. No. 26 will be Sacramento, Detroit or Cincinnati, and a decision on which one will pass muster is imminent.

On the other hand, Garber told participants at the Sports Innovation Conference that the MLS took a big hit when the U.S.
