‘Over coached. No freedom to do things’

I keep hearing this about us and Davies. Sometimes I think it’s just a modern football fan cliche, and sometimes I think they maybe right, especially yesterday for that last hour. But is it a thing? Is it a valid criticism?
After watching Cotterill, Zola, Rooney, Karanka (on tv), Clark, Relegation Rowett, Clotet etc can it be a bad thing?
