Tbf it will diminish as the generations pass.
Loss of the WW1/2 generations and the retirement of the boomers with collective memory is also weakening us.
I speak to more and more people who seem to have no idea why either world war or the Cold War happened.
It became a much bigger thing some time after the Second World War, no? The Rest is History did an episode on it a few years ago that was interesting. I feel like veterans on the whole are respected more now than 25 years ago.
