A little history for you kids.
I went to see a benefit game at Anfield once, back in the dark ages, (‘bout '55 sonny.)
It was “LIVERTON” vs Lancashire X1
A mixed Liverpool and Everton team against players from both Man. clubs Blackpool, Burnly, Bolton and Blackburn etal.
Some great players turned up along with 42,000 fans. (Billy Liddell, Stan Mathews, etc.)
Could you imagine it now.
So it was quiet around here...
