Not sure if this has been mentioned on hear but I see Cookie has now retired from Essex and Cricket. What a career and what a player. Saw the stat that since he retired from England only Alex Lees has scored more runs in county cricket. Quite remarkable really. I really do admire the fella and thought he was a thoroughly decent bloke.
Although I did love the chat with Moeen in the ashes where Ali basically said his captains had given him a short shrift and Cook looked aghast saying ‘but I was your captain’.
Anyway, just an appreciation post for an excellent cricketer.
