For bananas...thank Brum

0 23
The Sunday Times ran a long article today about bananas. The standard banana we all eat is a variety cultivated in the 1830s in a massive greenhouse in Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.

The greenhouse was designed by a bloke called Josoph Paxton and a quick Google revealed that all the glass was made by Birmingham glass manufacturers Chance Brothers.

I wish us Brummies would blow our own trumpet a bit more.
