The US Womens' U-20 team was soundly beaten in the Womens U20 World Cup this last week, by both the Netherlands and Japan. Frustration revolves around our inability to play possession soccer, especially as against the Japan squad. I am a big believer in possession-style soccer, but it is not always the most effective tactic available (the "META"). An argument can be made that for the US Women, more emphasis on direct play may be in order.
