I agree with all of this, I don't think Kettering has any appeal as a visitor personally.
I love Stamford, even though its a bit further, but towns like Oakham, Uppinngham & Oundle are worth a visit, as is Mkt Harboro - The Waterfront is a nice spot in this good weather.
Even Northampton would be better than Kettering
