Cape Cod Synchronized Skating Classic 2021 Wrap-Up

Earlier this month, the Bourne Skating Club hosted the 26th annual Cape Cod Synchronized Skating Classic. For some teams, this was their first in-person competition in over a year.
The highly competitive open-juvenile division kicked off the competition. There was only a one- point difference between the top three teams. Coming in first place was The Colonials with a score of 43.57. Not too far behind them was DC EDGE with a score of 43.07. Earning third place was Team Excel with a score of 42.67. Steel City Blades earned fourth place with a score of 39.82. Synchro Stars (39.76), CNY Blizzard (39.21), Superettes (33.18), Team Magnifique (31.17), Winterettes Blue (30.74), Team Rinx (26.88), and Lower Cape Starlettes (26.58) earned fifth through eleventh place respectively.
Next on the ice was the preliminary division with ten teams competing. Taking home the gold medal was Team Excel with a score of 25.04. Earning the silver medal was Skyliners with a score of 22.98. Landing in third place was the New Jersey Skyliners with a score of 22.20. Capturing the pewter medal was DC EDGE Blue with a score of 20.95. Central Park Skyliners (19.70), The Colonials (18.84), DC EDGE Red (17.63), Shooting Stars (15.84), Mirror Images (15.51), and Gate City Synchro (14.98) came in fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth place respectively.
In the aspire beginner division, Connecticut Rinkettes landed in first place with a 3/1 majority. Earning the silver medal was Team Excel with a 2/2 majority. Coming in third place was Team Rinx with a 3/3 majority.
The aspire pre-preliminary division was next. Taking home the gold medal was the Snowflakes with a 3/1 majority. Capturing the silver medal was Team Excel with a 3/2 majority.
Next was the large, highly competitive pre-juvenile division with eleven teams competing. Many teams finished only one point behind each other. Capturing the gold medal was Connecticut Rinkettes with a score of 38.27. About one-point behind them was Skyliners with a score of 37.28, earning them the silver medal. In third place was Synchro Stars with a score of 31.23. Earning the pewter medal was DC EDGE with a score of 29.99. Munchkins (28.78), Mirror Images (28.06), CNY Storm (24.81), NESC Starlings (23.12), Winterettes Red (21.06), Team Rinx (20.38), and Pieces of Ice (17.66) earned fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh respectively.
Dominating the intermediate division was Star Mates with a score of 65.41, putting them in first place. Capturing the silver medal was Team Excel with a score of 51.61. Taking home the bronze medal was Steel City Blades with a score of 43.16. Earning the pewter medal was CP Ice with a score of 36.65.
The only team competing in the junior division was Skyliners Junior Developmental with a score of 54.75, earning them the gold medal.
Next was the aspire preliminary division. Coming in first place was Connecticut Rinkettes with a 2/1 majority. Bringing home the silver medal was Team Excel with a 2/2 majority. Landing in third place was Winterettes White with a 2/3 majority, and earning the pewter medal was Team Rinx with a majority of 2/3.
Ocean Blades captured the gold with a 2/1 majority in the open adult division. Right behind them was The Colonials with a 3/2 majority.
Next up was the adult division. Esprit de Corps struck gold with a score of 53.52. Earning the silver medal was Team Excel with a score of 51.43. Taking home the bronze medal was Mirror Images with a score of 44.57. In fourth place was Empire Edge with a score of 32.97.
The only team competing in the master’s division, Esprit de Corps, landed in first place with a score of 37.64.
Next on the ice was the open master’s division. Maine DownEasters came in first place with a 3/1 majority. Earning the silver medal was The Colonials with a majority of 3/2.
The collegiate division wrapped up the competition on Sunday. Team Excel earned the gold medal with a score of 82.38. Bringing home the silver medal was Boston University with a score of 56.65. Landing in third place was University of Massachusetts with a score of 54.51.
