Dawlish Vs Teign 2-0 win to Daws

In stormy conditions both teams battled each other and the elements after a two week break. Dawlish started strongly, controlling the game from the offset. They put lots of pressure on Teign playing deep within their half and working well as a team.

Following some pressure on Teign's defence Dawlish were awarded a short corner- Amy Reed injected the the ball to Mel Barnes at the top of the circle who passed it off to Sophie Reed who scored with a mighty strike taking Dawlish into the lead.

Following their goal Dawlish seemed to switch off a bit giving Teign 3 the chance to put on some pressure of their own. Their players were fast and made multiple breaks into Dawlish's half but struggled to get past the defence who stood strong. Teign did get a couple of strikes on goal but these were all defended by keeper Sarah Webster.

Following half time Dawlish stepped up their game again and came back stronger. Helen Rainbird and Amy Reed worked hard with the rest of the midfield players driving the ball into Teign's circle providing lots of opportunities to strike on goal. All of Dawlish's attacking players were well positioned and all had chances to score, but Teign's defence, and goalkeeper in particular, did a brilliant job of saving them. One particularly notable save by the goalkeeper was an airborne strike from Sophie Reed.

Dawlish's continued pressure did pay off and following a strong run to the baseline by Amy Reed past several defenders she hit the ball across the goal which was then deflected in by Billie Gillet.

Teign did not back down and in last quarter of the game were able to match Dawlish. Their fitness was good and they were fast with the ball helping them to make several breaks into Dawlish's half. Dawlish continued to defend well but lost some of the control of the game they had held earlier and resorted to playing very deeply. Despite their ongoing persistence Teign were unable to get a conciliatory goal and the game ended 2-0 to Dawlish.
