MHC boss rejects talk of failure as Speedy Tigers target World Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal is confident the national men's hockey team will secure a World Cup berth despite a string of poor performances under coach Sarjit Singh.

The South African Hockey teams, both male and female, have taken on the year guns blazing with two international series to usher in this significant year as the Hockey World Cup is on the horizon. The women hit off with a 5 test series versus Canada, coming out victorious with a 3-0 win, and the men followed with a 2 test series versus the Netherlands in which they were defeated.



Watsonians (women) and Grove Menzieshill (men) are the Scottish indoor champions and in Europe

Eight goals and Watsonians retained their indoor title in some style with a convincing win over Clydesdale Western in the women’s final.  The fact that Watsonians retained the indoor title is perhaps not surprising, but the extent of their victory is.

Newly promoted to Premier League, Pirates Hockey in Johannesburg continued their build-up to the upcoming season with their second pre-season training session on January 31, as preparations gather pace ahead of the league’s start. The session reinforced the early groundwork already laid and allowed players to further settle back into training routines.
