Men’s Trophy II finalists and Challenge II promotion games confirmed

Men’s Club Trophy II – Banbridge (IRL)
Copenhagen HC produced an incredible smash and grab win to defeat Gaziantep Polisgücü 4-3, putting them into the bronze medal game in place of the Turkish side.

A Yaghoub Bahrami had Gaziantep 3-2 up with four minutes to go but the Danes – needing a win – got level in the 59th minute from William Nunn and then Daniel van der Hoven from a corner at the death.

The win lifted them to second place with Gaziantep ending in third in Pool A.

In Pool B, Banbridge won the group in emphatic style as 11 first half goals saw them defeat HAHK Mladost 13-1, leaving the Croatian side in second place. There was a second hat trick of the weekend from Johnny McKee while Jake Rowe also got three.

SG Amsicora ASD and Swansea ended 0-0 which meant they were in third and fourth place, respectively.

It means Banbridge will play TJ Plzen-Litice for gold; Copenhagen face Mladost with bronze on the line while Gaziantep are up against Amsicora for fifth. Swansea end in seventh overall.

Men’s Challenge II – Kirklareli (TUR)
HC Luxembourg snagged the last remaining promotion playoff ticket on offer with a 3-0 win over Vantaa with key man Milan Dans scoring twice in addition to Shane O’Halloran’s goal.

It put them in temporary control of second spot but they could still be caught by SLF Mesaicos if they were able to win against unbeaten Sliema Hotsticks.

And the Swedish side were on course for that outcome when Markel Tolarechipi scored from their sixth corner of the tie.

But Sliema roared back into contention and ran up a string of corners in the closing quarter and got their outcome with the very last play from Silas Plaehn for a 1-1 result.

In Pool B, Nizip Zeugma won a 4-3 cracker to land top spot ahead of Hungary’s Építők with Kerem Özdemir, Madi Shahrokhi, Müslüm Elagöz and Hasari Erdogan giving them the victory.

Nizip will next face HC Luxembourg in their promotion playoff while Sliema are up against Építők.

HK Triglav Predanovci won 6-3 against MASK meaning the former will meet Vantaa while SFL Mesaicos meet MASK on Monday.
