Coaches for Europe Programme
Between the 20th to 24th of March, the EuroHockey Coaches for Europe Programme took place at Slavia Praha in Prague, Czech Republic.
The mentors Arseni Sañe, Sietske Geerards, Frank Geers, Cecilia Rognoni, and lead mentor Tomislav Jamičić, lead the group through a week of intense discussion. For first-year coaches, the focus was on individual skills, while second-year coaches focused on individual defensive tactical principles.
Throughout the two-year course of Coaches for Europe, coaches are assessed through both presentations and training sessions within their mentor groups. Delivering these to an audience of coaches and mentors of different nationalities allows them to broaden their perspective on the key technical and tactical principles that are the foundation of our game.
The coaches hailed from 10 different European countries and included promising coaches from smaller hockey nations, coaches such as Matteo Vaccargiu from Italy, Matteo had this say about the course:
“C4E Seminar 1 was an opportunity for learning and personal growth, at the same time sharing and comparing with other coaches and mentors. I will go back home with many ideas to share in my club CUS Cagliari and with other Italian coaches.”
