Participants from 11 different member national associations took part in a hugely valuable EuroHockey ID meeting in Hamburg before Christmas, helping to widen the knowledge-base and skillset to new areas.

The meeting outlined the vision for EuroHockey and the FIH for Hockey ID with the core target to develop more people and more nations playing the sport.

To progress this, presentations from Germany’s Linda van Overmeire-Sandkaulen, England’s Steve Bradley, Ireland’s Dwyne Hill and Noman Hughes (FIH Global Hockey ID Lead) on behalf of a consortium of partners focus on the transference of skills under the headlines: “Uniting Umpires”, “Cohesive coaching”, “Open officiating” and “Love is ALL”.

The meeting also discussed the importance of the EuroHockey ID Championships which will take place in Germany in tandem with the EuroHockey Championships in Mönchengladbach next August. This championship is key to showcase this wonderful hockey realm in front of a wider audience.

Linda van Overmeire-Sandkaulen, the DHB’s Hockey ID project manager, said of the December’s event: “The EuroHockey ID meeting 2022 was the best meeting we ever had in terms of action, activities and interaction. Exchanging ideas and needs as well as experiences is always of great value for each of us and helps each of us, especially projects that are focussing on the development of Hockey ID.
