Women's 4XI:

A Journey to Brigg. After a great result last week we came into this game ready and positive to win. A long gusty drive, and we arrived in the charming red brick town of Brigg. The 4XI started well and had some early chances but soon felt the pressure of their strong defence. The 4XI squad today were unexpectedly young, yet experienced, with a positive coach that really helped them get in the groove of the game. The team made strong connections, and had possession for the majority of game, getting outcomes in the D, just unfortunately Brigg's strong defence and keeper weren’t letting Leeds past the goal line. The 4XI went into half time 2-0 down and fought back as strong unit until the end. Unfortunately it didn’t come out in Leeds' favour and the 4XI finished the match with no goals. The tean had some highs and lows however the team is still strong and are ready to fight back next week to keep our lead in the table. (Jackets beans and cheese for teas- tbf decent)#

Men's 8XI

Leeds 8XI travelled to Ben Rhydding to play for a friendly against their development side, keen to get a good result following last week's defeat.

The game started with vigour as the men in blue put pressure on the Ben Rhydding defence, resulting with an early goal from a Jas Sandu deflection from a Toby Green shot. This was followed in quick succession with a duet attack from Oli Graham and Toby Green, culminating in a goal for Captain Graham stepping in for Chris Devine. Followed up equally as quick with a one-two between Green and James Burrett, allowing Burrett to slot away a third goal for Leeds. Approaching the midway point in the first half, Matt Rooney initiated a textbook baseline dash from the corner and offloaded to Tom Matthews who caught it on the move and put it under the keeper to find the backboard for Leeds once again. Coach Harvey would be proud.

Will Brooke made a strong debut for Leeds with some impressive ball control and distribution causing all sorts of problems for the stunned Ben Rhydding side, culminating in an unexpected aerial which Matt Rooney almost managed to bring under control. The first half was then rounded off with two short corners won and converted by Green. The former being the result of a well executed Zig-zag routine, orchestrated by the 8XI resident protector of the realm, Craig Philip.

Entering the second half with a comfortable 6-0 lead, the 8XI decided to work their play a little more where there was excellent build up play from Leeds back line, starting with Craig Philip picking up loose Ben Rhydding passes and offloading to midfielders Oli Graham and Tom Broderick. This was integrated well the team's use of their width with Matt Rooney and Louis Studds linking up brilliantly together down the left hand side. Linking back around to Captain Graham at the top of the D, Graham then drove at the Rhydding defense and put another one away making it 7-0.

Ben Rhydding continued to struggle with Leeds' repeated attacks, and shortly after the seventh goal, Toby Green once again showed no mercy in beating a defender and taking on the keeper 1 on 1, where a dummy step to the left and a quick movement to the right left an open goal for him to make it 8-0. Leeds then maintained control of play by slowing things down and using their depth to work the ball around the back four with ease. Phil Price inparticular found himself available on many occasions to allow the team to use the right-hand channel.

A final short corner was won and converted by, yep.... you guessed it, Toby Green; whose performance was topped off by taking on the keeper one on one once again and climaxing in a well executed lob, making it a 10-0 win for the 8XI and bringing his grand total of the season so far to 21 goals.

The strength of the team's win was summed up perfectly by the fact that keeper, a "slightly" worse for wear Jon Jackson, never touched the ball!

Onwards to Bradford at home next week.
