MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University Athletics celebrated the Hall of Honor Class of 2019 with inductions during a morning banquet on campus in the Barnes Student Center.

Five individual and one team comprised the third class to be inducted into the Hall of Honor. The 1980 women’s field hockey team, Jay Smithley, Britney Froedge (Carpenter), John Bowman, Liz Howerth, and Dr. Mike Fratzke make up the Class of 2019.

Director of Athletics Mark DeMichael welcomed everyone to the banquet and women’s basketball head coach Ethan Whaley gave opening remarks about the mission of IWU Athletics and then prayed over the banquet. Following the inductions, women’s tennis senior Marissa Klein spoke about the legacy of what the inductees have left and how that helps impact current student-athletes. She closed the banquet with prayer.

The ceremony moved to the Recreation and Wellness Center at the entrance of Luckey Arena where the Hall of Honor display and plaques were revealed. The Class of 2019 was recognized during both halftimes of the Indiana Wesleyan vs. Huntington (Ind.) basketball doubleheader.
