Men's Masters friendly result
Old Sils masters 6 Northampton Saints Masters 3
Saints travelled to Old Sils with a small squad for this eagerly awaited rematch of our cup match. Old Sils ravaged by injuries had bolstered their side with some very youthful quality players. 2-0 down after 10 minutes the signs weren’t looking good. However a Jason Hillier thunderbolt short corner and a breakaway poachers finish by Jake Walker brought parity just before half time. Unfortunately Saints were unable to hold on until the break and shipped a soft goal just before half time. Old sils dominated the second half as the small Saints squad started to suffer with effects of tiredness and only some staunch goalkeeping kept the second half goals to 3 (did I mention the stroke save by Pau Madeley??) The goal of the match came from a free flowing saints move started by H, great run and ball into the D where Jake Walker coolly slotted home.
A really enjoyable match played / umpired in the right spirit with the great hospitality you come to expect at Old Sils. A really valuable fixture each season !!
