SMARTY JONES's CARY STREET takes show on the road!

0

CaryStreetDistance-loving CARY STREET took his show on the road to California, and the Kentucky-based son of SMARTY JONES kicked off the stakes action on Breeders' Cup weekend at Santa Anita with a stunning performance in the $200,000 Las Vegas Marathon S.-G2.

The 5-year-old gelding, owned by Brendan Walsh and Marc Detampel and trained by Walsh, was extremely patient in the one and three-quarter-mile Marathon under Miguel Mena, at one point nearly 20 lengths behind a solid pace. But soon the charge was on! Gobbling up ground he swung wide in the stretch and strolled home easily to win by more than nine lengths.

"This horse runs all day, so I wasn’t worried about it when they went out there so quick. . . I started looking for the leader at the five-eighths pole and he started to kick on for me," said Mena. "He finished great, he was rolling. . .”
