SMARTY JONES has rising star with NASA!

0

NASAThe Pennsylvania Nursery showcased the extraordinary talents of SMARTY JONES in 2003, and 11 years later his son NASA adds his own exclamation point, leading throughout to take the most recent edition of the $100,000 stakes by two and a quarter lengths at Parx Racing on Dec. 6.

The Smarty Jones team of Pat Chapman’s Someday Farm and trainer John Servis are also responsible for NASA, the 25th career stakes winner for SMARTY JONES. The bay colt out of Shootforthestars (by Seattle Slew) has now won or placed in all four of his juvenile starts for earnings of $99,050. NASA is a full brother to four other winners, including Gr. 1-winning sprinter CENTRALINTELIGENCE.

SMARTY JONES is the sire of 13 stakes horses in 2014, with two others in action on Dec. 6. His stakes-winning son FRANCOIS missed adding the $110,000 Iron Horse S. on Claiming Crown Day at Gulfstream Park by a neck when finishing second, and increased his earnings to $283,428. Veteran CONCEALED IDENTITY, a stakes performer from ages 2 to 6, was third in the Jennings H. at Laurel Park, his 11th on-the-board finish in stakes company and third time in the Jennings, while earning $435,915.

With international earnings in excess of $3.3 million in 2014, SMARTY JONES is the second-leading active sire in the Mid-Atlantic region. And his runners get better with age: among his recent stakes-performers are Gr. 1-winning SMART D N A, two-time graded winner CARY STREET and four-time stakes winner ISN’T HE CLEVER, all from the crop of 2009, which has yielded nine stakes winners to date.

SMARTY JONES is rocketing as a stakes sire, with juveniles and beyond!
