$2.2million Zoustar Filly Wins G3 PJ Bell – Stakes Treble Zoustar
The highest priced yearling by champion sire Zoustar sold in 2024 when fetching $2.2million at Inglis Easter, unbeaten filly Plaintiff took another step forward at Randwick on Saturday when capturing her first Black Type with a barnstorming victory in the Group III ATC PJ Bell Stakes (1200m).
Consigned by Widden and purchased by James Harron Bloodstock for Fairway Thoroughbreds owner John Camilleri, Plaintiff is trained by Peter Snowden, who has taken his time with the valuable filly.
She won her first three starts last year through late November into December before spelling with a view to the autumn.
Given two barrier trials to prepare for her return, Plaintiff was fit and ready to fire, but a soft 7 track and an outside gate in a big field raised some question marks.
Given a patient ride by Jordan Childs, Plaintiff unwound a big finish down the outside coming from a clear last on the turn to charge home and win by half a length.

“Good effort and didn’t surprise me, she’s always shown a fair bit of ability and her work has been great and I’m so glad for Jordan (Childs), he gave up a full book of rides to come up here and ride her today,” said Peter Snowden.
“The good ones always run well, no matter the conditions, what barrier they draw, they always run well and she did that today.
“She’s only lightly raced and is still untapped, she’s got plenty of potential.
“The James HB Carr (G3) looks like the logical stepping stone out to 1400m in two weeks time.”
Plaintiff is now four for four with prizemoney just shy of $400,000.
Bred by Widden and partners, Plaintiff is the best of three winners from three foals to race from Group I Tatts Tiara winner Prompt Response, who won over $1.6million with a resume packed with aditional Group wins and placings.
Sadly, she did not have another foal after Plaintiff and died last year.
Plaintiff was one of three stakes-winner on Saturday for champion sire Zoustar joining sprint queen Joliestar, winner of the Group I ATC TJ Smith Stakes and speedy gelding Zoupurring, who won the Listed Oakbank Railway Stakes in South Australia for Bennett Racing.
Plaintiff and Zoupurring bring Zoustar’s tally of worldwide stakes-winners to 79 and he has had eight in Australia this season.
