‘We remain positive’: family’s thanks for support as five-star rider remains in coma after fall

Five-star eventer Louisa Milne Home remains in a coma, and is in a stable condition, nearly four weeks after she sustained a serious head injury in a fall.

Scottish rider Louisa was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after the incident while warming up at a British Showjumping (BS) competition at Bogenraith Equestrian, Aberdeenshire, on 27 February.

It was confirmed yesterday (23 March) that she had been moved from intensive care to a neurological ward.

“Thank you for all your support and kind messages,” reads a statement posted on Louisa’s social media. yesterday.

“Louisa… remains in a coma (not medically induced), she is stable and receiving excellent care from the amazing team at Dundee.”

The statement said doctors have diagnosed a diffuse axonal injury, a serious traumatic brain injury affecting a large area.

“We remain positive,” the statement reads. “We see small changes, and are taking each one as a sign of progress.

“Thank you for continuing to think of her and we will endeavour to keep you updated.”

In a statement after Louisa Milne Home fell, a BS spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with Louisa, her family and friends at this time, and everyone at British Showjumping, together with the team at Bogenraith Equestrian, wish her a full and speedy recovery.”
