G1 Sires’ Produce Possible for Zoustar Filly

0 2

Promising Zoustar filly Rachini has been a filly showing potential from the time she was broken in and scored her first win at Wyong on Wednesday in a metro juvenile contest prompting connections to aim a lot higher.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase for Baystone Farm/Matt Houldsworth, Rachini ran fifth on debut in the Listed MRC Debutant Stakes last spring when prepared by Leon and Troy Corstens.

She was entered in the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale which followed straight after that race in the Baystone Farm draft and was duly snapped up for $500,000 by Bjorn Baker Racing / Clarke Bloodstock.

Rachini won two barrier trials for the Baker stable during February and was then fifth in the Group II ATC Resiling Stakes won by Chayan, so was a short priced favourite today when stepping up to 1350m.

Rachel King took her straight to the front from barrier one and she led all the way to score a dominant two length win.

Rachini holds an entry for the Group I ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) next month and stable representative Luke Hilton confirmed that was the plan.

“It was Bjorn’s plan to come here today and have a look at this race with the Sires’ (G1) in mind. The other option was the Baillieu (G3 next Saturday), but it was just a little bit of a short backup into the Sires’, so he wanted to stretch her out a little bit and have a look at her today.

“If she takes good improvement out of today, we could well line up there.

“I don’t think she was entirely comfortable around the tight turning track either. She’s a big scopey filly and we’ve got a lot of time for her. We took her back in that first up run, and I think when she’s able to use that big stride and get up on speed, she’s a different horse, and it was good to see her do that here.”

Bred by China Horse Club and offered as a yearling by The Chase, Rachini is the third foal and first winner from Ordos Honor, a winning half-sister by Fastnet Rock to Group II winners Timbourina and Media, the grand-dam of last season’s Group I winning 2YO colt Cool Archie.

It’s an outstanding family tracing back to Queensland Oaks and Derby winner Bravery, so Rachini has plenty of pedigree behind her.
