HSI Hosts Strategic Plan Workshop with Affiliates

Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) hosted a workshop with equestrian affiliates on Wednesday at Goffs, as part of the development process for its new strategic plan.

Over 50 individuals registered for the workshop, which was facilitated by Tom Crisp, and attended by representatives from 21 affiliate organisations.

Participants had the opportunity to provide feedback and share their views on the equestrian industry, HSI’s role, and the next steps for the sport horse sector in Ireland.

Speaking after the workshop Colin Hannan of Association of Irish Riding Establishments (AIRE) said, “I found it was great to get the points across. It was well done. Everyone was given plenty of time to think about their answers and the issues. And I think the atmosphere was very positive, everyone was very happy with it.

“I felt it was great to be sat at different tables with other affiliates and heads of other affiliates, that we wouldn’t ordinarily meet. And it was kind of comforting to find out that a lot of the issues that impact my members and my affiliate, that the same issues are in other affiliates as well.

“And I think there’s definitely a place for these kind of days in the future.”

Daragh Kevin Ó Tuairisg of the Connemara Pony Breeders Society said, “A fantastic initiative, a great stepping stone to progress the equine industry across all the affiliates to HSI.”

HSI CEO Denis Duggan said, “HSI wants to listen and have input from our affiliates and other equestrian stakeholders at the centre of the strategic plan.”

“The workshop is a key step in shaping the strategic plan that will help reflect the priorities for HSI. The insights shared were invaluable and will directly inform our planning for the future.

“I sincerely thank all the representatives from various affiliates who took time out of their busy schedules — and in some cases travelled long distances — to contribute and have their voices heard as part of the workshop,” said Mr. Duggan.

Horse Sport Ireland’s public consultation on its Strategic Plan is open until next Friday 10th October. Submission can be made through their website, via email or by post.
