Smart New Winner for Doubtland
Passed in and retained to race by Widden Stud, promising filly Sassy for Sure broke the ice at Mornington on Thursday to credit her young sire Doubtland with a new winner.
Trained by Phillip Stokes and ridden by Lachlan Neidorf, Sassy for Sure was second on debut at Caulfield back in May before going for a spell and having her second run back in the 1200m maiden.
She was sent out favourite and appreciated a return to good footing to skip clear and win by half a length.

Sassy for Sure is the first foal for Sassy Salitage, a stakes-placed Toronado (IRE) mare that was bought by Widden at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $180,000 in 2021 wit the goal of going to Widden Stud’s young Not a Single Doubt stallion Doubtland.
A half-sister to Group III winner Lady Horseowner tracing back to a Black Type US family, Sassy Salitage has a yearling filly by Jacquinot, but that filly is her final foal as the mare passed away earlier this year.
Sassy for Sure is the third winner of the new season for Doubtland, who stands at Widden Victoria at a fee of $13,200.
