Ur Favorite Tio upset winner in $57,156 MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity. Jason Olmstead trainees run first through seventh.
Canterbury Park’s leading trainer Jason Olmstead not only won the $57,156 MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity with 19 to 1 Ur Favorite Tio, he saddled the first through seventh finishers in the nine-horse field. Favorite Holliewood ran second a neck behind the winner, with Relentless Cachet, Hezz All That, Kyndling, McGreggor and Shes Got This finishing third through seventh respectively.
Ur Favorite Tio was ridden by Gonzalo Valles, Jr. for owner Tom Maher. He paid $40.40 to win. The 2-year-old gelding was the third fastest qualifier in the trials held June 25. Ed Hardy trained the eighth-place finisher Babygotgoodatgoodbye and Tyler Stein trained the ninth-place finisher Little Bit Restless.
Olmstead and Maher also won the $22,400 Bob Morehouse Stakes with odds-on favorite Relentless Legacy and jockey Armando Alvidrez. L Conejo was second and Beep Beep Rev Rev, also trained by Olmstead, ran third. Relentless Legacy paid $2.60.
