JS PRINCE-NAJUBA bay stallion, 2020 (Masoun Al Adeyat / Helena). Breeder & Owner: JS Najuba Arabians, S. Bürki & J. Allemann. Strain: Abeyan Sherrak (Abeyah, 1896)

The SZAP are pleased to award the 2024 WAHO Trophy to the stallion JS Prince-Najuba for his achievements in the show ring and his versatility.

Citation from his owners:

Our little success story began in 2016, when we were looking for a suitable broodmare for our stud farm. Thanks to a tip our search finally led us to Belgium. We immediately liked Helena (EKS Alihandro X Sanadina). The tall, compact, typey grey mare attracts everyone’s attention. She pranced in front of us across the arena and straight into our hearts.

2020 a milestone of our breeding programme was marked. In spring, JS Prince-Najuba was born. This elegant colt was more than we could have hoped for. His inquisitive, gentle nature won us over from an early age.

His pedigree is filled with many famous and popular breeding lines. The careful selection of his sire rewarded us with this noble colt. He grew up in the shelter of the herd. This form of upbringing shaped and strengthened his character and behaviour.

His first appearance at a show was at the Arabian Horse Show in Menton as a yearling. It was no surprise that trainer, owner and horse were all nervous at the beginning of the show. With a magnificent seventh place, he impressively proved that he could keep up with the world’s top ten. His self-confidence and chances for success grew with every following show. At the Sentower Diamond Trophy Show in Belgium, he already swept across the arena like a pro and won the yearling class against strong competition. In autumn he won the yearling class at the national show in Switzerland and was silver champion of the 1–3-year-old stallions.

He was the most successful show horse in Switzerland 2021 and was honoured by the breeding association for Arabian horses ‘SZAP’ for his great results at home and abroad.

His first foal was born 2024 and bears his unmistakable personal stamp. The inquisitive character, temperament, expression and strong, harmonious body confirm that JS Prince-Najuba passes on the traits that characterise him.

Proof followed in autumn 2024 at the National show in Avenches where JS Pharao was awarded a gold medal.

JS Prince-Najuba took part as well and won the 4–6-year-old stallion class. However, the highlight of the day was the stallion categorisation. The stallions get examined in detail by a team of judges, assessed and then assigned to a category A, B or C. Category A stands for outstanding suitability for breeding. JS Prince-Najuba showed himself exceptionally good and impressed with his quality. In the end, he was honoured with category A.

In the meantime, he has grown into a handsome stallion. He is now being trained as a riding horse. He has all the necessary qualities to become a reliable partner under saddle, with whom you can spend a lot of time and have fun.

This promising stallion represents a successful example of his breed and shows that good functionality does not necessarily have to compete with a desired ideal of beauty.

Breeding high-quality and rideable Arabians with a will to please has been our goal for 20 years at our small stud with a well-chosen breeding programme.

After all, it is precisely these special qualities that characterise the noble ‘drinker of the wind’.
