New Campaign to Fight Decoupling: We Need Those with FL Addresses to Contact State Senate

Horsemen and racing enthusiasts who live in or have business interests in Florida, we need your help NOW!

Take 30 seconds to send a message to Florida Senate that decoupling is a jobs and industry-killer.

Even if you’ve already participated in one of our campaigns, this is a new one that sends a prepared letter to the Florida State Senator in your address’ district. Senate Bill 408 (virtually identical to HB 105 which is working its way through the House) also is in the passage pipeline, having been referred to the Senate’s Appropriations Committee on Agriculture, Environment, and General Government; Rules.

We want to flood the Senate with these letters. Here’s the link to send our letter to Florida Senators. Again, you must use a Florida address, but it can be a seasonal residence or a business-related address in Florida.

Here’s the link address: https://mstr.app/d55f3196-c1e6-4cb6-9bf0-669e3e149a73

Apologies if you’ve already received this separately, but this is too important to risk missing any Florida permanent resident in the thoroughbred industry or someone who does business in the state with the industry.

The Florida Senate has a separate bill number from the House, but it’s the same objective: To allow Gulfstream Park to keep its gaming licenses (and Tampa Bay Downs its card club) without the current restriction of conducting live racing.

NOW is the time to act! This issue has far-reaching implications outside Florida. Please share this email, or the advocacy link, with your clients, staff, family and friends and post the link on social media to send a loud message to Tallahassee that tens of thousands of jobs, a huge agri-business and important component of Florida tourism are at risk with this ill-conceived legislation.

If you do not have a Florida address, you can still help out by signing our petition to the Florida lawmakers. If you’ve already signed it, thank you very much, and you can continue to assist by sharing these links with employees, clients, family, friends and encouraging them to participate. About 1,900 people have signed the petition and we want to get it over 2,000. Petition link (purple background)

And be sure to share the Senate letter link (yellow-green background) with anyone you know in Florida!

In case you missed these, here are some excellent editorials about what’s at stake:
