Zoustar Mare Wins $1million Magic Millions Filly and Mare
Zoustar made his presence felt on a star studded program at the Gold Coast with his progressive four year-old mare Miss Roumbini claiming a lucrative victory in the $1 million TAB Magic Millions Fillies and Mares.
It’s been a tough week for her trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, as they had to watch on as exciting Zoustar colt Space Rider twice missed a start as first emergency in the $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic – once last Saturday before the race meeting was called off and then again on Friday night’s rescheduled program under lights.
Miss Roumbini was well-backed to start a clear favourite and ensured the trainer wouldn’t leave the city empty-handed with a comfortable win over Bubba’s Bay and Russian Alliance. She settled midfield with cover for Ethan Brown before being asked to quicken as the field turned into the straight.

Price said the four-year-old can continue to build her CV, which currently stands at five wins and more than $1 million in prizemoney and bonuses.
“He was very confident my boy (Ethan Brown) and how he rode her was how he told me he would ride her,” Price said.
“She’s gutsy, isn’t she?
“We’ve had her since she was a yearling, bred by Yulong and she’s taken a bit of time but she’ll be a beautiful mare in time.”
For Brown, it was a maiden win on the Magic Millions program and he said he was delighted to do it aboard a mare that he’s now won four races on from only six rides.
“It’s my first time riding up here for the Magic Millions Carnival and I’ve got some great support of Mick Price tonight and I’m just delighted to repay him with a winner,” Brown said.
“She’s a beauty this horse.
“She’s got such a big heart and she tried hard.
“She absorbed a lot of pressure then and I’m lucky she’s genuine and knows where the line it.
“She landed in a lovely spot from a good gate but I did look up and think they had us off the bit a long way out but, as I said, she’s got a big heart and she pinned her ears back and had a crack.”
Miss Roumbini was a $550,000 Magic Millions purchase from Yulong for Mick Price Racing/ARJB Racing and is the best of two winners from Group III winning Fastnet Rock mare Bleu Roche.
