Nick GrayNashville TennesseanShow CaptionThe NASCAR Cup Series returns to competition for Sunday's Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway after taking two weekends off for the Olympics.Denny Hamlin, who won the first Richmond race in the spring, is on the pole.The race is the first points-paying race with two tire options, similar to the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro in the spring. Teams will start with six prime tire sets and two option tire sets. The option tires are designed for faster times earlier in the run but will wear quicker than the prime sets.Four races remain in the 2024 regular season.
