Horse racing tips: Fresh off a 16-1 Goodwood double Templegate backs Aidan O’Brien’s filly to demolish rivals

ONTO day three of Glorious Goodwood and Templegate – who put up 16-5 winning NAP French Duke at 5-1 on Wednesday – is buying Aidan O’Brien’s confidence in his big hope on Thursday.

He also found next best Notable Speech too to land a big 16-1 double.

Our man goes through all the races below and chucks in his Galway Hurdle tip and 1-2-3 prediction for good measure too, where Willie Mullins and Nicky Henderson go head-to-head.

OPERA SINGER (3.35 Goodwood, nap)

Master trainer Aidan O’Brien believes his high-class filly will come into her own over this longer distance. She has already hit the high notes over a mile, finishing last season by winning the red-hot Marcel Boussac at Longchamp. This daughter of American supersire Justify returned with a rusty third in the Irish 1,000 Guineas before stepping up to finish a close second in the Coronation at Royal Ascot. It was clear there the mile was too short for this half-sister to Derby winner City Of Troy and this challenge should be ideal.

BRIGHTON BOY (4.10 Goodwood, nb)

He was an impressive winner at Chester last time and has a handy weight for this handicap debut. He should handle the track and the extra furlong is another plus.

SISYPHEAN (1.50 Goodwood, treble)

He was a revelation at York last time when hammering some fair rivals by five lengths. He wasn’t stopping so this longer trip should hold no fears. He stays out of trouble up front and can go close again.

DADDY LONG LEGS (5.05 Galway)

Can give Willie Mullins more Galway Hurdle glory. The Irish – and British – champion jumps trainer has won five of the past eight runnings of this red-hot contest and has another major contender. He signed off last season with a blistering big-field handicap hurdle win at the Punchestown Festival. That was just the fifth time he’d jumped a hurdle so there’s every chance that he’ll find a lot more. He was given a very quiet spin around Tipperary last time in preparation for this and the five-year-old can take Paul Townend very close.

SISYPHEAN was a revelation at York last time when hammering some fair rivals by five lengths.

He wasn’t stopping so this longer trip should hold no fears. He stays out of trouble up front and can go close again.

Aragon Castle is consistent and landed a deserved win at Hamilton latest. He likes quick ground and should have more to offer.

Midnight Gun fired on handicap debut at Newmarket last time when landing a cosy win. He shapes as though this hike in trip will help and he looks a big danger on debut for his new trainer.

Mortlake looks to be crying out for this trip after finishing strongly over a mile when third at Salisbury. He’s had a little nudge down the weights which should help.

Into Battle didn’t get the clearest of runs when beaten just a length at Sandown and has scored at Epsom so should handle the track.

Palace Green ran well at Royal Ascot and is another with place claims.

THE STRIKIN VIKING looked top-class when a close second in the Railway Stakes at The Curragh last time.

He was leading until well inside the final furlong and will come on for the experience on debut for new connections.

Tropical Storm tanked along when second in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. That was over five furlongs but he shapes like a stayer and looks a major threat.

Billboard Star stayed on well when second to Whistlejacket in the July Stakes at Newmarket. He won his maiden on quick ground so should handle conditions and is another to consider.

Clive Cox has a good record in this race and his Aparajeo is likely to improve a bundle for winning on debut at Windsor.

He scored despite hanging right so should improve for that experience.

JAN BREUGHEL won on debut and followed up with a gutsy Group 3 win at The Curragh last time.

He will relish this extra half-mile and has a lot more to offer on this third start.

Bellum Justum was seventh in the Derby and ran well when third at Royal Ascot. He likes quick ground and can fill the forecast spot.

Sayedaty Sadaty hasn’t run since his Derby fifth where he was suited by this trip. He goes on any ground and can improve on debut for David Simcock.

Both Align The Stars and Meydaan ran with credit over a longer distance last time.

The latter looks the stronger of the pair given he landed Listed honours here in May and is best on fast ground.

Align The Stars looks more of a staying type for Charlie Johnston.

OPERA SINGER looked ready for this step up in trip when beaten a length in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

She likes this quick ground and can improve on this third run of the season.

Sparkling Plenty won the French Oaks over this trip despite trouble in running and has plenty of class.

She may not want the ground rattling quick but rates the main danger.

The Gosdens are in fine form so Emily Upjohn isn’t ruled out. She was poor when trying to defend her Coronation Cup crown at Epsom but bounced back with a fine second in the Pretty Polly at The Curragh. A repeat of that would give her every chance.

Stay Alert started this season with a Newmarket Group 2 and looks overpriced each-way.

El Burhan had more than six lengths in hand at Beverley when staying strongly.

The handicapper hasn’t gone mad with an opening mark of 90 and he looks a big threat.

Veydari is lurking near the bottom of the weights with every chance. He showed some promise when third at Nottingham latest.

Dukes Of Haather scored over this trip at Chester on handicap debut and a 6lb rise doesn’t rule him out.

Fearless Freddy has a low weight considering he won well at Leicester latest.
