Grand National tips

One to look out for at a big price could be JP McManus’ Canelo.

He is 33-1, just a bit shorter than the Venetia Williams-trained Achille, who recently came sixth in the Midlands Grand National.

Cloth Cap is the big favourite.

What channel is the Grand National on?

The racing will be on ITV 1.

However, you will be able to stream the event on a bookies’ website too, providing you have an account.

What are some of the famous fences?

Becher’s Brook

This is the sixth and 22nd fence. It is infamous because the landing side is 10 inches lower than the take off side.

It was named after Captain Martin Becher, a jockey who fell off his horse there and hid in the brooke to avoid injury.

Foinavon

A smaller fence, this was named after the 100-1 shot who avoided a horror pile-up here before going onto win in 1967.
