Donna Marie Frizell

Donna Marie Frizell passed at the age of 81 on September 27, 2020. She was born on November 30, 1938. She was a beloved resident of Leslie, Michigan. Donna spent her long happy life being a trainer for standardbred race horses. Within the past few years, she happily worked for Staci Malady, Sarena Evans, Al Tomlison, and most recently for the Casagranda Racing Stable. She was a hard working, caring, loving and all around wonderful woman. In the extra time she had, when she wasn’t spending it with the horses, she loved to garden, plant flowers and cook. She was always there to lend a helping hand to any one who may have needed it. She loved her animals and had a special bond with many of them, especially her dog, Kiwi, and her two cats. She had a special gift when it came to race horses. Some of those whom she loved and that loved her just as much were: Lundin, Virtual Princess, Dimes N Dollars, and most recently SF Don’ttellonme. Donna was one of a kind and had the ability to see the good in any animal, person, or situation.

She is survived by her standardbred racing family from California to New York and everywhere in between.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Donna’s life can make a contribution to Free Spirit Sanctuary online at www.freespiritsanctuary.org/donate. Free Spirit Sanctuary is a horse rescue that gives forever homes to retired work horses. FSS shares the same values about their horses as Donna did in her time on Earth.

An outdoor memorial celebration will be held on October 14, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Leslie First Baptist Church Youth Center (The Garage). Please follow all health and safety guidelines being required by the Ingham County Health Department including masks.
