Norm Gardner to give promising Carruthers another run before spelling
Canberra trainer Norm Gardner has decided to give his promising I Am Invincible 3yo colt Carruthers one more run before spelling, with the Country Championships in March the target.
Gardner says Carruthers with line up at Wagga on December 11 needing a win to raise his benchmark for more ambitious races.
“He’s a nice horse in the making and you can forget the latest at Canberra when he choked down,” he said.
”We’ve worked him since with a tongue tie and that’s done the trick.”
Gardner has also decided to keep Caccini in work to tackle the 1200m benchmark 55 at Canberra on Friday.
“She had no luck in the Highway last start at Rosehill and came though the race well.
“Friday’s race looks very suitable and she’s a much stronger mare now who has more wins in store.”
Le Cavalier lines up for Gardner in the Open “Federal” on Friday.
“He was good fresh when he was younger, but usually needs a run or two now; looking for a mile to 2000m.
Gardner has a good opinion of Who’s Shout, a 3yo Dreamscape gelding who has just returned to work.
“He hasn’t had the best of luck but shapes as a good horse and we are looking forward to his return.”
