Racecourse Manager receives Rising Star award

Canberra Racing Club Racecourse and Facilities Manager Adam Ayre received the 2018 Toro Australia Rising Star Awards at the recent Australian Racecourse Managers Association conference in Perth.

Adam was recognised for his dedication, diligence and efforts in racecourse management, and in particular in the development, preparation and installation of the new Acton synthetic track in 2016.

Warren Williams, Association Manager and Secretary of the Australian Racecourse Managers Association said “Synthetic tracks for the Thoroughbred racing industry certainly have their place and there is definitely a future for them.  Adam’s experience and implementation of the Acton synthetic surface impressed everyone, the award is well deserved”.

The awards are renowned for seeking out future managers and assisting them with their development for the future.  As part of Adam receiving the Rising Star award, he will be invited to attend the Toro Australia Sports Turf seminar, which is run for the turf industry, and gives Adam another accreditation towards his development and aspirations to become a metropolitan racecourse manager.

Adam acknowledged the hard work and dedication of his team who worked extremely hard throughout the process, whilst both training and racing took place.  He also acknowledged the backing and support of the Club CEO Peter Stubbs and the Board of the Canberra Racing Club.  “It was a huge undertaking by them to support this concept and see it through, they all need to be commended for their strong leadership. I am very humbled with winning the award” Adam said.
