Two Lots of Chain: Sedis, Sram, KMC

0 36
I’ve gone through my stash of chain, and measured each one for stretch. I used a method as suggested by Park Tool when a chain wear gauge is unavailable.

A nail placed in a board served as a hook to place one chain end over. The chain was then pulled taught and measured across the distance of 12 links. Each chain measured exactly 12” across 12 links as hoped for, showing no indication of stretch wear.

Nearly all chains except for a couple of the KMC will need a good bath. Of course all will need a good lube. No rust issues among them.

All except one of the fresher KMC chains which came from a single speed are take offs from double or triple set ups. Otherwise, I have not counted links, and would prefer not to, unless you absolutely need that info, which I would of course oblige.
