Bike frame number

Hi, I have a frame which has been resprayed at sometime.I can see the frame number on the bottom bracket it has a large 28 and then a small 53 reading 2853 but the first two numbers twice the size of the second two smaller numbers.

The frame has Italian style with chromed sloping front fork crown....
