Old French Leather saddle kaput?

Hi there. A friend has this old French leather saddle that was left outside over the winter covered with a tarp but the saddle developed a lot of SURFACE cracks none of which go through it.





I've put some dressing on it but the cracks are still there after about 12 hours or so of the dressing being on it.

Is this saddle kaput?
