Can't get outta my Beaters

When I go to dismount my shoe stays connected until the heel is twisted WAY out.
I'm new to Beaters. At first the shoes were coming out easier than I could imagine. Going in easy, too. I wouldn't feel either change yet the pedal was grabbing. But now it's not letting go. I'm close to crashing...
