Brake track- Cleaning??

We just came back from a 2 month cycling tour and as usual I clean and do maintenance on our bikes. I always clean the wheels and then while bthey are in the truing stand I take extra time and really clean the b rims/ brake track. I use alcohol and keep wiping until the black stops showing up....
