Two-win day for Canada’s Team Lott at 2026 World Mixed Doubles

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — The 2026 ACE & Company World Mixed Doubles Championship round robin is moving swiftly, much like the pace of a mixed doubles game. Canada’s Team Kadriana and Colton Lott have positioned themselves well, remaining undefeated after two solid wins on Sunday.

On Sunday evening at Geneva’s Centre Sportif Sous-Moulin, the Canadian team from Gimli, Man. (3-0) secured a 7-3 victory over the U.S.A.’s Team Rach Kawleski/Connor Kauffman (0-3).

Colton Lott clinched the win with his second shot of the end, executing a triple to run the opposition out of stones.

Managing the ice was the greatest challenge for both teams. However, the Canadian duo, supported by national coaches Scott Pfeifer and Viktor Kjell, adjusted more quickly and forced their opponents into unfavourable ice paths.

“Colton’s been around this for a very long time,” Kadriana said. “He’s just come off Men’s Worlds, and he reads the ice like no other. For us, we caught on a bit faster than they did, and that was a huge part in our win this game.”

The U.S.A. opened with a steal of one, while Canada’s Team Lott responded with a single in the second. Over the next two ends, Canada pulled ahead—first by stealing a point after forcing the U.S.A. into a difficult raise, then by stealing two more in the fourth when the Americans had few options to score.

Kawleski and Kauffman found some hope in the fifth, capitalizing on their power play. Canada missed the double needed to hold the U.S.A. to a single, allowing the Americans a hit for two and a chance to narrow the gap. However, the experienced Canadian pair answered with a deuce in the sixth after executing a tap for two, and followed up by stealing a single in the seventh.

“I think we’re quite happy with how we’ve played up to this point. Obviously, we will make some minor adjustments, but it’s going to be like that all week,” Colton said. “I think for us, it’s trying to get a handle on the ice as soon as we can and then motoring through that and trying to really capitalize on the misses and get the right angles.”

Earlier in the day, Canada defeated Finland’s Team Lotta Immonen/Markus Sipila (1-2) 10-4.

With two wins under their belt, the Canadians now have a chance to take control of the pool as they face the only other undefeated team on Monday. Canada will meet the reigning world mixed doubles champions and 2026 Olympic mixed doubles bronze medallists, Italy’s Team Stefania Constantini/Amos Mosaner (3-0), at 8 a.m. (all times Eastern) in their only game of the day.

“It will be huge to play a big team like that. We know what we’re capable of, and we know we will have to come out strong, and we’ll push through to the end. We’ll need to make a few big shots and then see what happens,” Kadriana said.

In their earlier matchup, Canada surrendered an early three-ender to Finland but rallied for the win. After falling behind in the first end, Canada outscored the Finnish team 10-1 over the next five ends, prompting Finland’s concession after the sixth.

Finland started with the hammer and made a double to score three. Canada quickly responded in the second, as Colton’s hits and raises set up Kadriana for a draw for five. The third end played out similarly, with Canadian stones clustered in the four-foot. Finland attempted to draw into a small opening, but only managed to limit Canada to a steal of two.

“After giving up three in the first end, we zoned everything back in and capitalized on the shots that they missed. We executed those very well and got them thinking. Then they were low on time, and we kept pushing and pushing,” Colton said.

Finland struggled to generate offence with the power play in the fourth, falling short on a draw against three and giving up a single point. They had a chance for two in the fifth but missed a line call, causing the stone to glance off the counter and miss out on a second point. Kadriana sealed the victory for Canada with a draw for two in the sixth.
